The scenery from Ganjik Mount that location is at Selo Dhuwur, Selo Village, Selo district is on 1.850 metres above the sea level and also on the slope of Mount Merbabu is very excisting.
Nowadays, Mount Ganjik that faces Mount Merapi to be a favourite place for local tourist that visit Selo resort. It can be happened after the Selo Villagers build the view post with 9 height and now this view post to be favourite place to take a photograph.
Beside this, Mount Ganjik to be a favourite place to take a rest or transit for tourists who will go to Merapi Tourist Area.
The tourist will be served by the beauty of incredible view, line of beautiful green plants that form like in a row of mountains and valleys. The cold of wind, enjoy the top of Mount Merapi although sometimes cover by the fog.
The great thing, the tourits also can feel the sensation how above the sky without they must strain to climb the mountain.
Besides the beauty of the scenery with Mount Merapi and Merbabu as its background, This place is also one of the most beautiful place to see sunsrise especially on dry season.
It can be happen because the position of view point almost equals with top of Mount Merapi that known has one of the best sunrise.
From Mount Ganjik view point, the beauty of a nature is also interesting. Solo can be seen as inverted stars. The light of the lamps like a shadow of full moon.
Name of Ganjik was from Kyai Syarif
The name of Ganjik taken from the history of Kyai Syarif that live on Merbabu one year before Independence day. The track of the mountain often to be the way for Kyai Syarif to go climb and down from Merbabu to Selo Market.
Reputedly, this place was as gawe mancik (javanese, English : place for standing) Kyai Syarif. He stood to see the nature and do the good things. Based on this, the Selo villagers hoped that their village will be growth better.
The Ganjik Villagers pioneer that Mount Ganjik can be a destination to support agrotourism at that area.
This idea begins from the declaration of Selo Village as Berdikasi Village by the Central Java Province Government. The villagers especially for Kelompok Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis) then explore every potential on this village. One of them is Mount Ganjik.
The villagers then arrange the mount to be more exotic. The vegetables garden that arround the mount Ganjik will be pakced to be agrotourism. Son, they are not only strong in agriculture but also in the tourism sector.
The Myth of Mount Ganjik
At the area of Mount Ganjik there are 4 shrines that can be potential thing to support the tourism at Mount Ganjik
The four potential things are four caves. The caves are Jalak cave, Watu Buto, Watu Jonggol and Kali Gede. From all the caves, The closest cave is Jalak Cave that only 200 metres from the Mount Ganjk view point
While Kali Gede, Watu Jonggol and Watu Buto are still on the mount area. Based on the story of the villagers, Jalak Cave and Kali Gede is still sacred until now. During the colonial era, Jalak cave to be a place for the villagers to hide from enemy attack. Until now, those place are still visited by the people who believe with mystically.
While Kali Gede, reputedly it is a river where Kyai Simbar Joyo and Nyai Simbar Joyo be impresoned. This river always crowded if the villagers will have celebration. The villagers who will has a celebration gives sesajen at that place.
It is related with the myth that the people believe until now. Someday, there was a man wanted to married. He didn’t give sesajen. The effect was the bride fainted. The bride awaked after they gave sesajen.
Watu Buto and Watu Jonggol are two kinds of huge stones. Both of them also has mystic stories. Because of the huge of the stones, reputedly those stones can be seen from Solo Palace.
Until now, Watu Jonggo is still on its place and never moldy. None villagers brave to move the position of the stone because the stone will back to the its position again.
Also caused appearing Watu Jonggol , there is a big stone at Selo Village. Watu (stone) means sela (Javanese). Selo Gedhe that located between Merapi and Merbabu.
By the villagers near the sacred places, those places will be managed better as a part of religious tour so it can support the tourism potential at Mount Gancik. So it will make the tourism at Mount Ganjik complete. There are Agrotourism, Nature tourism and Religious tourism.
Route to Mount Ganjik
The access to Mount Ganjik is not difficult although the location of view point is relative high but the distance not too far from the settlement.
From the track Solo – Selo – Borobudur (SSB), the tourists can take the route through Kampung Selo Tengah and Selo Nduwur. The track to the mount can spur our adrenaline because there is only footpath, uphill, and in the left-right side there is vegetables garden belongs to the villagers.
The visitors can reach the view point by using motorcycle through the agriculture track and half of them made of concrete. If you want go there on foot it just need 30 minutes.

To enjoy the beauty of three mountains from Mount Ganjik, there is no much money to pay the ticket entrance.
The local tourist and foreign tourist just pay IDR 5.000 for paking fee and entrance ticket. But if you there by car, the parking fee may be can be more expemsive doubled
